Our Wedding

Our impromptu engagement photoshoot on Art Hill, when photographer @forestphotoco noticed us by pure chance right after the proposal. Of course we booked her for the wedding!

Best buds since 2017

Our Venue Story

Noah’s cousin Johnny is a beekeeper and he cares for some bee colonies on a small farm in Waterloo IL, owned by the lovely Kerri & Chris Roider. Kerri & Chris had renovated two barns on the property to host their son’s wedding last September, so Johnny introduced us. When we arrived at the farm we realized it was steps away from historic Eagle Cliff-Miles Cemetery, home of a 160 year old bluff-side mausoleum and stunning views of Monroe County. Noah & I had visited Miles Cemetery with our friends on New Years Day 2017, less than 24 hours after we had met for the first time. We met Kerri & Chris and instantly hit it off – we loved their energy and the farm was everything I wanted in a wedding venue. They had Ferris Bueller's Day Off playing on the projector screen in the barn, which was the first movie Noah and I ever watched together (and the reason Danke Schoen by Wayne Newton is “our song”). All these little coincidences, along with Kerri & Chris blowing us away with their generous offer to host our wedding for no charge, made this the easiest decision ever. We can’t wait for you to see it!

Wedding Party

The Ceremony

We ask that guests please arrive between 3:00pm and 3:30pm. The ceremony will take place shorty after.

The Venue

Our ceremony and reception will both take place at Sunset Farms, at 7849 D Rd in Waterloo, IL. The ceremony will be on grass, dinner will be in a tent, and the dancefloor will be inside a barn. There are two restrooms inside the barn for guests. While there is no central heating or cooling, we will have fans and heaters ready for whatever the weather brings.

Guest Attire

For our wedding we recommend cocktail attire. Gentlemen, please feel free to wear dress pants with a suit, blazer, or dress shirt – with or without a tie. Ladies, a cocktail dress, jumpsuit, pantsuit, or dressy separates are great. The wedding party will be wearing green. Our wedding will be outdoors in late September, so the weather can be unpredictable. You may want a jacket for later in the evening, just in case it gets chilly. Comfortable footwear (like flats or wedges) is recommended for the grass lawn.

Dinner & Drinks

We will be serving dinner from Andre's and dessert from my wonderful cousin Kathy Hammond-Daniels of Yummy Bakery! There will also be an open bar, so no need to bring cash.

Parking & Transportation

Guests will be asked to park in a grass field on the property, but space may be limited on the day. If you are able, carpooling would be greatly appreciated!

Gifts

Gifts are entirely optional, but if you would like to send us something before or after the wedding you can check out our registry here! Our address will be a delivery option at checkout. There will also be a card box at the venue.
